Easter hike and 50th anniversary of the E-path E6

During the traditional Easter hike along the E-path E6 in Austria, more than 200 hikers came together to mark a special moment — the celebration of the 50th anniversary of this iconic long-distance trail.

Participants arrived from across Slovenia, including groups from Radelj, Sevnica, Krško, Muta, Ljubljana, Moravče, Ptuj, Celje, Koroška, and the hiking group InPlaninci, as well as hikers from Eibiswald in Austria.

The hike began with a bus journey to Sobosko Lake (Golica 1088 m), where the impressive dam project was presented by its original designer. Built between 1987 and 1991, the dam holds approximately 24 million m³ of water. The lake spans 2 km in length, 500 m in width, reaches depths of up to 80 meters, and has a surface area of 0.8 km².

From there, the group returned to St. Oswald (750 m) — the official starting point of the hike. The event featured welcome speeches by Jože Prah, President of KEUPS, the President of the Eibiswald hiking group, and Mag. Alan Bukovnik, Mayor of Radelj ob Dravi.

The hiking route led participants past the fire station, along the road to the viewpoint below Hublerkogl, by Hochwirtkapelle, and to the Garber tourist farm (Buschenschank), where they enjoyed a short rest. The journey continued to the Standlbach stream and ended in Eibiswald (Ivnik), where the hikers concluded the four-hour tour with a visit to the local museum.

The warm hospitality of the local community, complete with snacks and drinks, created a festive atmosphere and symbolized the strong cross-border cooperation in honoring the E6’s legacy.

Hikers enjoyed a well-marked and maintained trail, stunning panoramic views, and the spirit of camaraderie — all contributing to the rich mosaic of events celebrating the E6 in 2025.
