E3 in Luxembourg

Route

The E3 enters Luxembourg in the very west of the country, crosses it until you get to the Our valley that marks the border between Luxembourg and Germany in the east of the country, and then follows the rivers Our, Sûre and Moselle until Schengen in the very southeast of the country.

In the first part you will walk along the Upper Sûre Lake until you reach the pittoresque village of Esch-sur-Sûre, that is surrounded by a loop of the river Sûre, that almost makes you feel like on an island. You will then discover the wild parts of the north of Luxembourg – the Éislek Region, 1st Quality Region – Best of Europe by European Rablers Association – with castles along the way like in Wiltz, Clerveaux and Vianden. After having reached the Our valley, the E3 leads you through the Mullerthal Region with another castle in Beaufort and through the spectacular rocky landscapes of the Mullerthal Region in Bedorf and the Mëllerdall UNESCO Global Geopark, lets you discover the oldest city in Luxemburg – Echternach – and follows the Sauer until it flows into the Moselle in Wasserbillig. From there on, you will walk through the wide and open Moselle valley whit its green vineyards, to end up in Schengen – where European history has been written.
