Ireland

The marking of footpaths have been intensive in the last few years. A network of some 32 trails exist and another 5 are planned, giving access to a wide variety of walking possibilities. See for example the brochure “Waymarked Ways of Ireland” which you can get free from National Waymarked Ways Advisory Committee (see web address below).

Most of the routes have their own map and guide. The country is now being mapped at a scale of 1:50 000, starting with more popular areas. In the meantime the Ordnance Survey offers 1:126 720 maps for the other parts.
