The Norwegian Trekking Association (Den Norske Turistforening – DNT) was founded in 1868 and is Norways largest outdoor life organization (240 000 members). DNT aims to promote trekking and emphasizes exciting, inclusive offerings for all. Activities are tailored to the ages and interests of individuals. The foreign members are welcomed to come and experience Norway as one of the least densely populated countries of the world, with extensive areas available for outdoor activities.

20.000 km marked trails  
Norwegian Trekking Association consists of 57 local member associations, each expert in the area it serves. Together it has built and now maintains one of Europe’s larger marked hiking trail networks and an extensive cross-country skiing track networks. In all, there are some 20,000 km of T-marked trails, all clearly waymarked.

470 chalets and cabins across Norway
You can hike or ski in comfort, as there are 470 cabins in the networks across the country, or seek challenge, as Cabins range from staffed cabins were three course meals are served with wine, to simpler self service lodges.

Guided hikes
DNT’s member associations specialize in guided hikes. Accordingly, they train and qualify leaders for both summer and winter hiking. Each year, 10 000 organized hikes and activities draw more than 300 000 participants.

The Childrens trekking club is the DNT offering to preteen children and their families. The aim of the Children’s Trekking Club is for children and adults to enjoy the outdoor experience in a fun way. Activities are varied and adapted to seasons and local conditions.

DNT mountaineering offers mountaineering trips, and glacier hiking for both experts and beginners. It is also a professional community for mountaineering instructors.
