International Landscape Day

20 October @ 08:00 17:00

The European Ramblers Association (ERA) is pleased to join the celebration of International Landscape Day on 20 October, organized by the Council of Europe. This important day, inspired by the European Landscape Convention, aims to raise awareness of the vital role landscapes play in our everyday lives.

Landscapes are more than just scenic views; they are a living reflection of our cultural heritage, natural diversity, and social well-being. Whether urban, rural, or wilderness, landscapes shape our experiences and provide essential spaces for recreation, well-being, and connection to nature. For walkers, ramblers, and nature lovers, these landscapes form the heart of our activities, offering paths that connect people, cultures, and nature.

International Landscape Day calls on all European citizens to recognize the value of landscapes and encourages local communities, governments, and organizations to take action to protect, manage, and enhance them. At ERA, we strongly advocate for the sustainable preservation of landscapes, ensuring that our trails continue to offer safe, accessible, and environmentally friendly spaces for future generations.

On this day, we invite our members and the wider public to reflect on the importance of landscapes and contribute to their protection, whether by participating in local activities, taking part in discussions, or simply enjoying the natural beauty that surrounds us. Together, we can help ensure that Europe’s diverse landscapes continue to flourish for the benefit of all.
