Why do we need recognised training? Walking can fulfil a multitude of needs: 

  • the need for activity and physical exercise 
  • the longing to discover and meet nature and people
  • the enjoyment of social gatherings.

As endurance sport walking demands a certain degree of information, planning and preparation, to achieve full enjoyment in safety and with highest satisfaction levels. Walks organisers in clubs depend on competent, qualified, and certified walking guides and leaders. 

Non-organised walkers

There are lots of opportunities. The best way is to approach a walking association or walking club that offer relevant information and training. Alternatively join a walking club.
