Many different systems for rating the difficulty of routes exist in Europe, sometimes based on very different methods and criteria. The clear and harmonised level of difficulty between hikes is a real challenge : to enable hikers of all levels to make an informed choice about the technical and physical level of the route planned.
For this reason, the French Rambling Federation (FFRandonnée), with the support of ERA, would like to know about the different rating systems that exist in Europe. These results could be a support for discussions and workshops in order to ensure a stronger cooperation between different European partners on this subject.
This survey is available in three languages: English, French and German.
