Discover the new Liberation Route Europe Podcast: “In the Footsteps of History”

We have received this from our partner LRE Foundation:

We are thrilled to share the news of a significant step forward for one of our pillar projects – the Liberation Route Europe. Our brand-new Liberation Route Europe Podcast is an immersive product designed with the French production company natif. to enrich the public’s experience along the Liberation Route.

About the Liberation Route Europe Podcast:

Whether you’re walking the paths or listening from the comfort of your home, the Liberation Route Europe Podcast – In the Footsteps of History – will take you back in time and immerse you in the gripping stories of WWII remembrance sites across Europe. Each episode covers the story of a specific place or historical event and is carefully designed, featuring a rich soundtrack and several format possibilities, including interviews, portraits, anecdotes, and letters to narrate the stories of the war. A host introduces each storyline as they walk the Liberation Route, meeting with historians, museum professionals, eyewitnesses, and more whilst visiting key remembrance sites.

How to Get Involved:

We invite you to be among the first to experience this exciting podcast! Check out our website for more details and listen to the five pilot episodes hosted by British journalist Rich Woodruff, exploring the Battle of Bastogne:

  1. The Battle of Bastogne: A Walk on the Liberation Route
  • The Battle of Bastogne: A Talk with Historian Peter Schrijvers
  • The Battle of Bastogne: Testimony of a Child of War (Interview with Henri Mignon)
  • The Battle of Bastogne: Letter from a German Soldier
  • The Battle of Bastogne: Portrait of Renée Lemaire, the “Angel of Bastogne”

The official podcast launch is set for this week, coinciding with the Nuts Weekend. We are actively seeking funding and partners to produce additional episodes that will include more storylines and commemorate other historical sites. If you have a story, connection, or insights that would make a valuable addition to this project, we would love to hear from you. Your participation can help us enrich this new Liberation Route project and ensure its success.

Thank you for your ongoing support. We are excited about the potential of this podcast and look forward to your feedback and contributions.

Kind regards,

 The LRE Foundation Team
